The Paumanauke
Drum and Dance Team is available to the public to put on demonstrations.
We consider our demonstrations be cultural events, including dances of
a typical Pow wow: i.e. Grand Entry, Flag Song, and Veteran’s Song.
Many dance styles and outfits from the Northern Plains Tribes and local
Iroquois are shown. Every outfit is handmade by the members of the group.
There are
participation dances and a question and answer period to finish the event. The
demo is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. The program
can be tailored to fit your individual needs.
Requirements for holding
a show:
A 110 power
source for the amplifiers and public address system. ~ A private changing
area to assemble the outfits and get dressed. ~ An area to create a Pow
wow circle for the event, with the spectators sitting outside, around the
circle. ~ Armless chairs or benches for the dancers would be appreciated.
~ Currently, we only take bookings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
If you intend
to book a show, please book as far in advance as you can. The group is
made up of honor scouts active in their home troops and outstanding youths
who are active in their own school and community organizations.
It is strongly
suggested that a donation be made to the group. These funds go towards
transportation, equipment, supplies and educational experiences for the
members.
Current
suggested donations are available from our “Events Coordinator” and will
be forwarded to you through email, as well as any other information you
require. Please email us at Paumanauke@1890.org
and we'll get back to you A.S.A.P.
